And I’m exhausted…

April 14, 2011

Work, The Newt, my relationship, all have been sources of anxiety for me in the past week or more. All of it came to a head today and cleared peacefully. I should be happy but really, I’m just exhausted. I’ll be happy tomorrow I think. Right now, I just want some zombie time.

I’m glad I’m learning about anxiety management. My quality of life is improving from it. I think anxiety leads me toward depression and we all know how many goats that blows.

Derpy Car Color

Because some of you asked for it, here are few pics of the current state of The Newt with the wrong color applied.

Car Debacle Update

And update to yesterday’s post

After lots of patient waiting, (Maybe I shouldn’t say patient…I did rant a lot to people about it…) I received a phone call today saying that The Newt will indeed be repainted and I will be provided with a rental in the mean time for no cost. Of course, any less would have been inappropriate, but I’m very happy that it’s easy nonetheless.

Let there be w00t. Progressive is a great insurance company. (State Farm is not, but that’s another story…)

That’s *not* what I ordered

April 13, 2011

As some of you may be aware, I had a decent amount of body work done on my car, The Newt, recently. Unfortunately…the car came back yesterday and it was beautiful. Why is that unfortunate? Because it was beautifully the wrong color. :/

I asked for this:

A Singularly Nostalgic Visit

April 10, 2011

I went home this weekend in order to clean out as much of my random crap from dad’s garage as possible. I did this for two reasons. First, ChadBro and I are hoping to have a garage sale next weekend and secondly, I just wanted some of it. Strangely, in the end, due to either apathy or laziness I ended up just tossing out the majority of it and keeping what mattered. I wonder if I should do that here instead of having a garage sale.

Supernatural Patience

April 7, 2011

When I was in junior high, perhaps high school, my good friend Dr. Krotch once told me that I was the most patient person he’d ever known. He told me this because we were comparing playing techniques and save files for Lords of the Realm II and I mentioned that on one of the earlier levels, I waited until I had an army of 1,500 knights before attacking the final foe. (In retrospect this did take a lot of patience)

With No Fuckin’ Teeth

April 6, 2011

I’ve finally set a date to have my wisdom teeth extracted. Thank freaking Christ. These bastards have been killing me for eight years now. Of course, I would have had them out years ago when the family dentist first told me that they would be a problem by dad simply said “You’re twenty now, you should pay for it.” He didn’t seem to care that he was getting a large tax credit by claiming me as a dependent. I never forgave him for that.

My Bucket is Full -or- My Cup Runneth Over

February 22, 2011

During middle school and high school my brain was like a dry sponge. I seemed to have an infinite capacity to absorb material and recall the old and, because of this, I felt as though I was tremendously intelligent. I remember achieving the highest score in Geometry my sophomore year, beating my then girlfriend by a full seven percent. Note that she was the person with second highest score. I remembered her studying frantically for hours for the test, absolutely laser focused on beating me. While she did that, I instead wrote a program for my TI-86 to do the math for me if I give it inputs. In its own way, this was studying because it required a thorough understanding of the material in order to program it. The geometry didn’t interest me anymore, since I’d already absorbed it, but the programming was fun. Ultimately, I wasn’t able to use the program on the test, but I obliterated her her score anyway. She was pissed. The interesting part to me, however, was that when she and I talked again in early college, she had forgotten all of the Geometry from sophomore year and I could still write proofs without hesitation and apply all the formulas.

An Evening with Grey Larsen

February 10, 2011

This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of attending one of Grey Larsen‘s traditional Irish music sessions at The Runcible Spoon in Bloomington, IN. This was a departure from the norm as I usually play Irish flute and whistle at The Brockway pub in Carmel with the Northside Indy Irish Music Session (website pending). I headed down to Grey’s session in order to test various combinations of flutes and head joints since I’ve always been a little unsatisfied with my current flutes. Not only was I able to reinforce my concerns about my instruments, but I also learned a tremendous amount about playing music from simple observation and was even able to play some of my favorite tunes with Grey and Cindy.

WoW, what a sight

November 30, 2010

Say what you will, I like video games. Say what you will, I also happen to like World of Warcraft. I didn’t like how much time I was spending on essentially nothing so I stopped playing back in 2007. However, given all of the hubbub about Cataclysm, I decided that I’d jump back into Azeroth for bit just to look around and holy shit, I was pleasantly surprised. (Note that I’m on a promotional 10 day free Burning Crusade trial so I’m not paying a dime!)
