Last week’s eating of two of Jersey’s largest sandwiches was a rough. I spent the rest of the day not moving around very much. Many of you know I’m on an 1,800 calorie/day diet (I’ve lost over 45 pounds!), so on Thursdays, I have to be very sparse with my other meals, if I have them at all. Because of this, we decided only to get only one sandwich this week, however, we decided to go with a big one. We chose the Atlantic City Expressway Hot Hoagie: Long name, amazing sandwich.
This is another example of one of those sandwiches where every ingredient is critical, with the exception of the hoagie toppings in my opinion. I have this tendency to eat under the hoagie toppings. The sandwich is so large that it’s difficult to get a true all-inclusive bite. However, Sherrel uses a butter knife to push all of the toppings down in, which I’ll be trying next time we get a hoagie. Anyway, the first thing I tasted was a little piece of the hot Italian roast beef that fell out during cutting and I knew immediately that this sandwich was a winner.
Moving on to my favorite part, the shrimp was very bold and flavorful. The shrimp was just the right amount of chewiness for the sandwich and was very potent. It really gave the sandwich the seafood kick that is near and dear to my heart. The salmon played only a supporting role taste wise, but it held center stage at holding everything together texture wise.
I wouldn’t change a thing about this sandwich, but I would *always* split it with someone. As you can see, it’s massive. It’s also one of their most expensive sandwiches. It’s one of only 2% of the items that break the $10.00 mark. Anyway, if you’re not allergic to shrimp, I recommend this sandwich.
